Automated Swab Feeding Pick and Place Robots
Each Robot Can Process between 70-100+ Parts Per Minute
The demand for swab feeding and other medical supplies is at an all time high. We have the solution to help you produce, pack, and ship more supplies, faster. The answer: robots.
Line Tracking Pick and Place Robots for Medical Swabs

How do pick and place robots work?
Medical swabs enter the system on a conveyor belt (either in random or uniform orientation). A machine vision camera locates each part as it is moving on the conveyor and communicates its location to the robot. The robot picks the part from the conveyor and places it in the packaging machine.

Making Your Swab Feeding Production More Efficient
- Machine vision guided robots and flexible feed systems can handle multiple part types
- Detects and picks swabs up in random orientation
- Picked at 70-100 parts per minute per robot
- Rates over 600 parts per minute possible with multiple robots
- Faster speeds available for swabs in uniform pattern
- Utilizes FANUC iRVision software
- Easily setup and maintained
The current shortage of medical supplies and Covid-19 tests is a problem American manufacturers are trying to fix. Robots and automation are here to help you solve that problem faster and more efficiently. Instead of training your people to do new tasks, you can implement safe and clean systems to do the job even faster. And, your people can be better utilized in other areas of your business.
Medical Safety and Compliance Benefits
- Quality control
- Reduces shared space, promoting operator distancing
- Reduces repetitive motion tasks
- Machine vision inspects variable print information (i.e. date and lot code)
- Automatically rejects nonconforming parts if inspection is failed
- Verifies component presence in form/fill/seal medical packaging

Producing medical equipment requires extra care. We know assembling and inspecting parts is difficult, time consuming, expensive, and risky when you have to rely on people to do the job day in and day out. Interactive Design has been engineering automated systems for medical and pharmaceutical applications since 1987. Your customer’s safety is our top priority.
Supplemental Automated Systems for Medical Use
Interactive Design also provides supplemental machines to help build out your pick and place system.
Other available machines include:
- Swab feeding machine
- Tube feeding machine
- Tube inspection
- Label Inspection
- Case Packing of swabs and tubes
- Palletizing swabs and tubes
